How we price a kitchen
A kitchen is impossible to compare when you cannot see what is inside the number. So here is the inside: every line that appears on an OXIA quotation, what makes each one move, and how the French VAT rules apply. Your own price is worked out on the plan, after the first appointment.
We do not publish kitchen prices. A price is built on a plan: we measure the room, draw the layout, agree the specification, and then cost it item by item — design, cabinets and fronts, worktop, sink and lighting, delivery, fitting, and any building work around the kitchen. You get an honest bracket at the first appointment, and a written quotation with a net price, a VAT rate on every line, a dated lead time and a payment schedule. It is valid for thirty days and nothing is signed at your house.
Seven lines, and no eighth one later.
What is written on the quotation is what is delivered, and what is not written is not owed. Here are the lines you will read, in the order they appear.

Design and survey
The appointment, the plan and the written specification. In the fully fitted options, a laser survey is taken at your house before anything is ordered, and the dimensions on the plan are the ones from the site, not from a sketch. In supply only and assisted fitting, you measure with our guide and sign the dimensions off, and a laser survey can be added.

Cabinets and door fronts
The largest single item, and the one that moves most. It is driven by the metres of base, wall and tall units, and by the material of the front you choose — from matt melamine through wood decors and laminated lacquer to true lacquer. Every carcase is built in the German factory, doors and drawers already on.

The worktop
Laminate, compact laminate, ceramic, quartz or natural stone, with a spread of roughly one to four between the first and the last for the same kitchen. Stone and ceramic are templated on the fitted units and cut by our stonemason in Terrasson, so they are quoted once the material is chosen.

Sink, tap, lighting and fittings
Sink and mixer tap, LED lighting under the wall units, plinths, handles, seals, fixings and the finishing panels that take up the irregularity of an old wall. Small lines individually, and the ones a headline price usually leaves out.

Delivery and fitting
Collection from our showroom costs nothing. Delivery into the room, unpacking, taking the packaging away and fitting by our own team are separate lines. In the assisted fitting option only the fitter’s working time is charged, because the carrying, the unpacking and the clearing away are yours. The travel charge is worked out from the driving time from Brive, not from the mileage, and it is printed on the quotation before you order.

Building work around the kitchen
Stripping out the old kitchen, electrics, plumbing, plastering, painting, tiling. In the Clé en main option these appear as a trade-by-trade breakdown, each with a named, insured tradesman, and you pay each one directly by assignment of payment. We take no margin on their work.

VAT, one rate per line
The rate is applied to each line, not to the total. In a home completed more than two years ago, fixed units and their fitting are at 10 % — including in the assisted fitting option, where our fitter does the fixing. Appliances are at 20 % in every case, and a supply-only kitchen is at 20 % throughout because there is no fitting. You certify the conditions by a short dated declaration on the quotation.
What moves the price
- The run: every metre of base and wall units counts, and a U-shaped kitchen costs more than a straight one for the same floor area
- The door front: the material sets the level, from matt melamine through wood decors and laminated lacquer to true lacquer
- The worktop: laminate, compact laminate, ceramic, quartz or natural stone — a fourfold spread
- An island: two faces of cabinets, a larger worktop, and usually a new waste run to create
- Appliances: the most elastic item of all, and the one to decide last
- The building work: moving services — water, waste, electrics — costs more than replacing them where they already are
- The driving time: the travel charge follows the road, and it is printed before you order
What does not
- A “VAT paid for you” or “free kitchen offer”: without a known starting price, a discount means nothing
- A headline price for a kitchen nobody actually buys as shown
- The month of the year: we quote the tariff in force, never a campaign that expires at midnight
- How long you take to decide: the quotation is valid for thirty days and the price does not move in the meantime
We take no hidden commission on the appliances, which we buy at our buying group’s negotiated rate, nor on the building work, which you pay directly to the tradespeople.
The option changes what we do, not how we quote.
Prêt-à-poser — you fit it — is quoted from the dimensions you sign off. Assistance de pose — we fit it together — is quoted the same way, with the fitter’s working time on its own line and the split of the jobs written out. Sur-mesure posé — we fit it — is quoted from a laser survey and a 3D plan. Clé en main — we handle the building work too — adds a trade-by-trade breakdown with named, insured tradespeople. In all four, the specification is written, the lead time is dated, and the payment schedule is on the same page.
Frequently asked questions
Why are there no prices on this page?
Because a kitchen price without a plan is a number without a meaning. The same three metres can double depending on the fronts, the worktop and what has to be moved in the room. We would rather measure, draw, and then give you a written quotation that shows every line — and an honest bracket at the first appointment so that you know early whether we are the right people.
When do I find out what it costs?
At the first appointment you get a realistic bracket, spoken plainly, for the room and the option you have in mind. The firm price comes with the plan: a written quotation, item by item, with the VAT rate on each line, the lead time and the payment schedule. It is valid for thirty days, you take it home, and nothing is signed at your house.
Do you ever discount?
No crossed-out prices, no percentages off and no “VAT paid for you” offers. A discount only means something when the starting price is known. What we do have are conditional offers — a second room designed at no charge, for instance — and they are written into the quotation rather than promised across a table.
How does the 10 % VAT rate work?
In a home completed more than two years ago, fixed units and the labour to fit them are charged at 10 % instead of 20 %, provided the same company supplies and fixes them. That covers the Sur-mesure posé and Clé en main options — and the Assistance de pose option too, because our fitter does the fixing even though you do the carrying. Appliances stay at 20 %, and supply-only sales are at 20 % because there is no fitting. You sign a short dated declaration on the quotation; we handle the rest.
What is never included?
Appliances, in all four options: they are quoted on their own lines so that you can compare like with like and decide last. Also floor tiling, opening a load-bearing wall, replacing a whole consumer unit and drainage work — quoted separately after a survey, never added to an invoice after the event.
